The communities
The need to resettle the 141 families living in the mine plan area resulted in the community living in the area being split, those remaining at Murowa within the boundaries of Murowa ward (now referred to as the Murowa community) and those relocated to Shashe (now referred to as the Shashe community).
The five-year Communities Action Plan covers both communities. Murowa Diamonds Private Limited (MDPL) will be sensitive to operational impacts and the aspirations of the Murowa community who live within the ward boundary over the life of the mine. It will also make a contribution to sustainability of the resettlement scheme for the Shashe community for a 10 year period.
